Disgusting.....!

Sometimes I despair at having to share this fragile planet with people who have no respect for the environment. This morning, local "sportsmen" took to the St Andrews Fields, Ashlawn Rd, Rugby in order to play football. They left, yet again, with no effort to clear up after themselves. No worries, the litter picking fairies will sort it out. Today, despite leaving general litter, they left clinical waste in the form of blood stained swabs and a plastic bag with soiled wipes on the touch lines. All of this was left less than a few paces from a bin! Referees and team captains should ensure this litter is removed BEFORE the players leave the pitch. Clubs should appoint a "litter monitor". Failure to comply should lead to fines, suspensions and a ban from ALL pitches.

The Touch Lines

This could do a lot of damage!

This is a RUBBISH BIN! It is used to hold RUBBISH!

The following is part of an e-mail from the council in reply to my complaint:

"I am sorry that you have had to email regarding the enormous amount of litter that had been left at the St Andrews sports pitches on Ashlawn Rd yesterday.  This is a totally unacceptable occurrence and I have contacted the sports teams informing them as such and will be fining the team(s) who are responsible for this incident.  We will be asking our Park Rangers to monitor this site for future use".
