Celebrating the Queens 90th Birthday at Flamborough Head!

The [new] beacon is lit!

Most people will be aware that today is our Monarchs 90th birthday. Celebrating this milestone involved the lighting of c900 beacons across the land, including Flamborough Head. We went expecting the original beacon to be utilised -

but alas, due to Health & Safety, this was not possible and a "modern" beacon was constructed in the grounds of Trinity House Flamborough Lighthouse! -

While waiting for the beacon to be lit at 2025hrs, I took the opportunity of capturing the evening sky over Flamborough -

Although the lighting of the beacon at Flamborough was not designated a public event, the kind Trinity House staff invited the small group of people into the grounds to hear the birthday proclamation, before the lighting of the beacon -

Whitby

Heather with Symphony (Ginger Beast)

Today felt like being on holiday with our destination being Whitby. It has been a few years since we were last here, but Whitby changes little (last time we were there, Woolworths had an open branch!). Of course, we wandered along the harbour and quaint streets, before having a coffee. Our real motive for the day was to visit Homebase (Whitby being the nearest branch), leaving with nine lampshades of various sizes and colours, a full length mirror and various small "necessities"!

Bridlington North Side

Bridlington

It's been a little while since I posted on "On the Dog Walk...." so I would like to reassure followers that Symphony has been exercised several times daily and is fit and well! A lot of my time has been spent on my Bempton Birder Blog HERE. This morning, with the tide going out, we headed out to Bridlington North Side, enjoying the mornings sunshine.
